On 24 May 2023, the call for proposals for a third round of projects (MaterialDigital 3) was published. Only collaborative projects with active industry participation are considered eligible for funding.
You have until 31 August 2023 to submit project outlines. Questions to the platform and the project executing organization VDI-TZ can be asked at a virtual information event on 15 June 2023. You can register for the event here. We will make the recording available afterwards via YouTube.
We welcome applications from the community and we invite you to share the call for proposals with people who may be interested. Please also feel free to use our posts on LinkedIn and Twitter.
We are pleased to report that DigiMatUs and DaMaStE - the sixth and seventh projects of the MaterialDigital2 round - have officially started their work. A warm welcome to all MD2 projects once more! We are excited about the continued growth of the initiative and look forward to working with you. Please use the project pages to familiarise yourself with the focus of each project. You can also network within the community, for example via our forum. We look forward to a wide range of contributions and to working together to advance digitalisation in materials science and engineering.
All onboarding events of the focus areas will be available on YouTube. The onboarding for PMDco version 2.0.0 can already be viewed.
Registration for the MaterialDigital General Assembly, 21 and 22 September 2023, at KIT in Karlsruhe is now open. We expect participants from the initiative, the project teams, industry, our institutes, the project executing organization and other initiatives. The focus of the event is on active exchange and discussions on the digitalisation of materials science and engineering. You can look forward to the presentation of demonstrators, active working sessions as well as a social programme with dinner for networking. Please register - all information on registration and the current agenda can be found on our registration page.
Important note: There is a participation fee of approx. 100€ for the event, which can be deducted from the project costs within the initiative. You will receive payment details by email shortly before the event.
A meeting of the Workflow Group took place on 23/24 May at MPIE Düsseldorf. There were participants from the core team and 6 projects. The main goal of the meeting was to define common standards for workflows to make workflow nodes interchangeable between different workflow environments. There were also guest contributions from Alejandro Strachan on NanoHub and from Michael Crusoe on Common Workflow Language to compare PMD concepts with established approaches in the community. The meeting was full of intense discussion, which is why further events of this kind will follow.
Don't miss the first NFDI-MatWerk Conference from 27 to 29 June 2023, dedicated to the shared vision of digital transformation in materials science and engineering. You can exchange ideas with experts and gain valuable skills in research data management in specialist workshops. Be there - online or in person in Siegburg.
